List of medical indications for underground speleotherapy

  • Vasomotor rhinitis;
  • Allergic rhinitis caused by plant pollen;
  • Other seasonal allergic rhinitis;
  • Other allergic rhinitis;
  • Allergic rhinitis unspecified;
  • Polyposis sinus degeneration;
  • Nasal cavity polyps;
  • Other sinus polyps;
  • Bronchitis, unspecified as acute or chronic;
  • Simple and mucopurulent chronic bronchitis;
  • Chronic bronchitis unspecified;
  • Other chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, mild to moderate in severity without respiratory insufficiency or with respiratory insufficiency no greater than grade 1;
  • Asthma of mild to moderate severity without respiratory insufficiency or with respiratory insufficiency not greater than 1 degree;
  • Asthma with a predominant allergic component;
  • Non-allergic asthma;
  • Mixed asthma.


Carefully study the list of contraindications for descent into the underground speleotherapy department!

  • Acute illness until recovery;
  • Chronic diseases – in the acute stage (with the exception of allergic rhinitis caused by plant pollen) and a severe degree of severity;
  • Infectious and parasitic diseases until recovery and end of isolation;
  • Contagious skin diseases;
  • Respiratory diseases with phenomena of respiratory insufficiency of the 2nd – 3rd degree;
  • Bronchiectatic disease of any degree of severity;
  • Tuberculosis of various localizations;
  • Malignant tumors of all localizations;
  • Diseases of the blood, hematopoietic organs and certain disorders involving the immune mechanism, including primary immunodeficiencies;
  • Diseases of the circulatory system with phenomena of cardiac insufficiency of any degree (for children);
  • Diseases of the circulatory system (for adults):
    • Resistant arterial hypertension of grade 3, risk 4;
    • Angina pectoris, all forms, any functional class (hereinafter – FK);
    • Cardiomyopathy, all forms;
    • Chronic heart failure above 1st stage (FK II, FK III, FK IV according to NYHA).
  • Cardiac rhythm and conduction disorders accompanied by impaired or high risk of hemodynamic disorders;
  • Syncopal (presyncopal) conditions (except for the absence of syncopal (presyncopal) conditions within 10 years and the diseases provoking them);
  • Renal insufficiency of any degree;
  • Liver failure of any degree;
  • Convulsive seizures and their equivalents (except if no convulsive seizures within 5 years, confirmed by medical documentation);
  • Mental and behavioral disorders;
  • Diabetes mellitus type 1;
  • Diabetes mellitus type 2, in decompensation stage, including with the use of insulin therapy;
  • Other diseases of the endocrine system, eating disorders and metabolic disorders – in decompensation stage;
  • Diseases with motor, coordination disorders, lack of ability to move independently and self-care, limited ability to orientate and communicate, ability to control one’s behavior;
  • Severe visual impairment;
  • Diseases of the middle and inner ear in which changes in atmospheric pressure are contraindicated;
  • Conditions after surgical surgical treatment – the first three months after surgery;
  • Pregnancy;
  • Claustrophobia.

Admission to the underground department is only after an examination by a doctor at a speleotherapy hospital.

In order to guarantee the provision of speleotherapy in the underground, it is necessary to send the medical records in advance before admission to the hospital. At the same time, the final decision to go down into the mine will be made only after an examination by the doctor of the National Speleotherapy Hospital.
